Essential Oil Creativity Challenge

Anhoki's Place and GourmetSoaps wanted to challenge everyone to be creative with color and essential oils. Our team also wanted to help the victims of the tornadoes in Joplin. We decided to combine the two, by donating all of the proceeds from our entry fees from the challenge.

But, it gets even better! Our good friends at Brambleberry are joining us! Not only is Anne-Marie donating a $50 gift certificate to the winner, but Brambleberry is also donating an additional $50 to the money we're sending to Joplin. We've always loved Brambleberry for their awesome supplies, but now we know they have a big heart as well. Thank you Anne-Marie!

The Challenge......

A) Contestants were allowed to use only the essential oils listed below. (We must use essential oils) If you already have a blend or blends with 3 or more of the essential oils listed this will be less of a challenge ...
amyris (sandalwood), anise, bay, cedar, citronella, clary sage, clove, eucalyptus, fennel, ginger, grapefuit, juniper, Laurel, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, lime, nutmeg, orange, patchouli, peppermint, petitgrain, pine, rosemary, rosewood, vanilla, spearmint, verbena, vetiver, ylang

B) Contestants had to have at least 2 colors in their soap. I realize this will be a challenge for some as they only use herbs and spices for color OR none at all. This is why it is called a challenge.

The challenge for the public is...there is no smellovision. We ask that you vote on the two challenge components only. You will have the picture of the soap and a brief description of oils and color used. Vote for the one you feel best depicts the challenge requirements. To vote for your favorite just leave a comment with the number selection and your email address. When voting is over we will use random chooser to decide who will receive a winning bar. HAVE FUN.

It's a shame that you can't smell #2 which is an enticing blend of Lavender, Lemon, Grapefruit, Clary Sage and Geranium. The colors are beautiful swirls of Green Chrome Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (ingredient in sunscreen). Enjoy!

Amyris oil appears to lack the well documented, historically rich background of other essential oils. This is largely due to

the fact that the botanical origin of the tree that is used to produce amyris oil,
The sweet, balsamic, wood-like fragrance of Amyris oil allows it to blend well with geranium oil, pine oil, spruce oil, cedar

wood oil, myrrh oil, galbanum oil, frankincense oil, cypress oil, clove oil, aniseed oil, lemon oil, orange oil,

Commonly found in soaps and other 'Sandalwood' products in place of 'true' Sandalwood, Amyris supports vibrant physical

health by helping to remove physical and etheric toxins that congest and distort the body. An alternative choice in place of

the endangered 'true' Sandalwood, Amyris is a healthy, inexpensive and sustainable substitute in many aromatherapy

applications.
