To me... Valentines Day = Honeymoon!

We were married on Feb 11th, my hubby's b-day is the 13th and we were enjoying our honeymoon in San Fransisco on Valentines day ... 25 years ago!!! Yep! It's our 25th anniversary this week and our 25th Valentines Day as lovers!

To me.. Valentine's Day is taking leave from my day job and helping my mum in her flower shop. We will start work from Valentine's Day Eve where we plan the delivery route of the flowers till the end of Valentine's Day.. Thus technically, I don't get a Valentine's Day break! :) What was fun and rewarding though is seeing all the husbands rushing in to the shop at the last minute trying to get flowers for their wives before returning home from work :)

God Bless

I know it sounds corny but everyday is Valentine's Day for me. I'm lucky enough to have a wonderful husband who makes sure to always tell me how much he loves me and how much I mean to him. The only difference is that on Valentine's Day I get chocolate along with the love and compliments!

To be honest Valentine's Day is a little sad for me. My daughter's best friend commited suicide a little over a year ago and his birthday was on Valentine's Day. So it is a hard day for her, she is 17 years old. Last Valentine's Day she spent at the cemetery putting flowers on his grave. I wish I could do something to help her to celebrate this day again. Thanks,
Kim

I used to LOVE Valentines Day but I have been married for 30 yrs now and it just doesn't mean the same, not to say the love is gone, just the romance:(

Valentines day for me means:

- Letting my girlfriend force me into watching period pieces
- Letting my gf gossip about her friends and tell me every little detail of her day and for once, actually pay attention :)
- Buying my gf chocolate, even though she's always on a 'diet' and doesn't want me to, yet it's gone the next day!
- Getting in trouble for picking the 'wrong colored roses'
- Buying the 'naughtiest' card from the store even though I know she'll get mad at me because it's not 'sweet'...but I like to do it just to irriate her a bit :)

Yep, that about sums up every Valentines Day for me!

Valentine's Day is usually just another day here for me. My husband and I have been married just over 3 years and of those years we have struggled financially. Which means nothing happens for holidays and such. Maybe a card.. I have no idea if we will do anything this year or not. We didn't even go out for our 3 year anniversary.

Sorry I tried to edit and could only delete - my email is kristynskreations@gmail.com

I love Valentine's Day because of all the CANDY and awesome stuff! I love seeing all the Valentine's themed stuff on Etsy. And I love those little heart shaped lollipops, sooo delicious!
I've never had a boyfriend that was at all interested in Valentine's, and this year I have to work for 14 hours that day.
But that's okay, he treats me like a queen every day of the year.
(But I hid my bag of lollipops in the closet. Shhh!)

I was never a big fan of Valentines day. Many years I was single on that day, and then I lived with a boyfriend for a while whose birthday was on Valentines Day so it was always more of a Birthday Party than a day for romance. But 2 years ago I had my best Valentines day ever. I was in a long distance relationship with a guy from The Netherlands. We hadn't seen eachother since November, we emailed eachother about 10 times a day and I was missing him very much. Then out of the blue on January 12, he emailed and said he was coming to see me for Valentines Day! I was at work when I got the email, and I screamed out loud!
It was the absolute sweetest, most extravagant thing anyone has ever done for me.

He arrived on the 14th, he brought me Belgian Chocolate (the real stuff, my favorite) and he stayed for 5 days. I took that week off work and showed him around San Francisco. We were even having a heat wave at the time so you could walk around in just a t-shirt, which was a nice change for him coming from freezing Holland in February! It was an amazing week and the best Valentine gift I ever got.

I love valentines, because 10 years ago my husband proposed at the top of Chimney Rock....a state park in North Carolina. We have also picked the tradition that he cooks on Valentine's Day. (He isn't the cook in the family) And it is always good (well except for once) but we won't talk about that.... And it is usually something I have never had before, a totally new recipe! I love it! A bottle of wine, dinner I didn't cook and great company!

Hope everyone has a great Valentine's!!!!

My birthday is February 7th, so it now tends to get merged together with Valentine's Day.
However, when I was first dating my husband, & the 1st 15 years of marriage, my husband always made a point of doing something special--flowers, chocolates, books, teas, coffee, bath & body products, etc.
Then I discovered shopping on line.
Now he says I buy everything I want anyways, so that took care of the gifts!
thanks for having this great giveawy!

Do I love Valentine's Day? Are you kidding me? Heck no!! My loving husband of 24 years is the most beautiful gem in the world. He cooks, cleans, does laundry and even irons my shirts for work. He is the first one up in the morning and coffee is on, and the cats are fed. He rubs my back anytime I ask. He can fix anything except cars and plumbing. He helps me with craft shows. And he listens to all my blogs and tells me what a good writer I am. He may close the door to my craft work room, but he never gets on my case about how messy it is. He makes everyday a Valentine's Day for me. Do I need one short day in February to know that I am loved? Heck no!

Valentine's Day is my wedding anniversary! Four years this Saturday : ) We were planning on going to Vegas for the weekend, but our 17 year old kitty has been having some weird episodes ... just collapsing for no reason. So, we are going to spend the weekend at home with him ... so sad. We are not ready to say goodbye!

Happy Valentine's Day!

When I was an RA in college we hosted a "Cupid is Dead" party that was loosely based on the Voice of the Beehive tune "I'm Shooting Cupid".

So...no. Not a fan.

But, I'd love a long shower with some stellar bath and beauty products to help me get over it!

Per my hubby....Valentines is just another day...as we should treat everyday like it is Valentines...I am not talking flowers, candy, romantic dinner..I am talking about loving each other every single day as you would if it were Valentines Day!!!

These sentimental comments are sweet! I wish there was someone for me to get sappy about this year but until then I'll settle for someone to get soapy with. ;)

Do I love Valentine's Day? Heck, yes! To me it's evolved from a lover/boyfriend/spouse day to a day to tell people you love them.

Kids, parents, siblings, spouses, friends, co-workers, neighbors.... whoever. Valentine's day is a great day to thank them for being a part of your life!

Do I love Valentine's Day? Not a chance.

I am normally quite happy to be single - I like my space and privacy, and I'm still young enough that figuring out what I want to do with my life is a more than sufficient challenge without having to consider a boyfriend or husband - but Valentine's Day is such a couples holiday that if I spend any time in public at all it makes me feel like I'm missing out on something.

Besides that, the day after Valentine's Day is my dad's birthday. He's notoriously hard to shop for, so no matter how far ahead of time I start looking for a suitable gift I usually wind up getting him something at the last minute. And what does that mean for me? You guessed it... I'm out in public on Valentine's Day.

I'm thinking he might get a homemade gift this year.

I have a hate/love relationship with Valentine's Day in that I hate to love it. I know it is just another day out of the year but my husband and I have not really reconnected since we had our baby and he came back from Iraq. Every year I always go and get something cute or sweet for my hubby and he always forgets to get me something. The only time he remembers is when someone else does the thinking for him, which isn't any fun at all. If he would even just say "Happy Valentine's Day" to me I think it would be enough. I just want to feel appreciated.

Around Valentine's Day of 2007, my then fiance called me to let me know that he was being deployed to Afghanistan in two months. We got married three weeks later.
Last year, my husband was home and we had a grade school themed V day party for couples and singles complete with stickers, decorate your own paper bags, boxed valentines, and dollar store decorations.
Valentines day is romantic, silly, and fun for me, my husband, and all the people that we love!

My husband proposed to me on Valentine's Day!
Even though every day should be a holiday, I have a special place for Valentine's Day (and Halloween, heh. That says a lot about me.).

"Sweetest Day?" Yeah right.

I do love Valentine's Day! I know I am very lucky, my husband always makes sure to get me the fun things; flowers, sugar-free chocolates, a card (sometimes handmade!) and even a sexy mix CD woohoo! Before we went sugar-free I always made him a Martha Stewart cookie recipe.

But my sweetest memories are from childhood when my artist mom would sit down with me, she'd bring a pile of pink and red construction paper, doilies, glue, scissors and we would make valentines for hours!

Valentine's Day is just a FUN day to spend showering my hubby and daughter with an EXTRA heaping spoonful of Love.
I agree that everyday should be Valentine's day, in that we should be telling our loved ones how much we love them and appreciate them each and everyday instead of making just one day a year the day you get candy and flowers and a nice dinner......and a mushy card! LOL

When the hubby and I were first amrried,we were very young with a newborn and of course no money, so we developed a tradition that has grown as the girls have.

Instead of the two of going out and spending enough to house some one in a third world country we stay in.

The table is set with a pink tablecloth, pink dishes all the way down to the forks and spoons! The center peice is the flowers that Daddy always sends his girls at school.
At each persons plate is a small gift warpped in fu-fu.

The dinner is always home made and something we wouldnt tradtionally have. This year we are even breaking it down into courses with the main entree being 4 cheese stuffed shells in a scampi sauce seved with home made bread of course!

And to drink we have shirley temples, heavy on the extra cherries, served in pink champagne glasses!

We top the night off by watching our favorite romance movies!

Its one of our favorite holidays!

hugs~

Valentines is just another day to me. But back when I was 11 or 12 I remember still living with my 3 sisters and brother...Mom and dad never had time or money to have anything romantic.. We didn't have a dinning room and I took small desk covered it and set out our fancy plates, silver and cups. Candles were lit and mood music in the background. I had used my babysitting money, which wasn't much and brought a salad, which they ate first and to this day Mom remembers when dinner came out... It was 2 frozen dinners the best my money could buy.. We laugh about it today.. Well a few years after my dad had passed I recreated dinner for her and my siblings and the years of cooking experience payed off LOL I served them with a 5 course meal that didn't come from the microwave :)

Valentines Day to me is a day I celebrate to everyone, it isn't just a day for ones i love, but people who i care about too. Everyone in school knew me as the lollipop girl. I would give out these big heart lollipops to my friends and even in my teachers mailboxes! Everyone was so excited and I wanted them to be happy on valentines day, because not everyone has a special loved one to share it with, but if they had a friend who cares and gives them a card or candy, it makes them feel loved:)

Share the love!

Yes, I love Valentines Day... my hubby and I always have fun memories pertaining to that day. The first year we were together, things were really tight. We had just moved out into the world and had no money to buy eachother presents. I worked at KMart and a few days after Valentines Day they had their roses 75% off.... they were basically dead. I got one anyway, it ended up being like 10 cents with my discount... hahah... and I took it home for myself. I figured that my now hubby wouldn't get me anything, he had been unemployed for some time. He comes home from dinner at his families house, FREAKS out... thinking that some guy gave it to me and I was breaking up with him. He started crying and telling me how much he loved me and things were going to be okay.... hahaha... I don't think to this day he believes that I got it myself for 10 cents... hahaha

Valentine's Day is both an awesome holiday and an angering one to me. I'm with the most amazing person I could have hoped for so it's a day I get to have an excuse to be outlandish. At the same time though, why should we need a holiday to do that? Too many people use it as a way to make up for all the bad things they did through the course of the year. That's just not cool.

So in conclusion, I think it's a wonderful day so long as you honestly appreciate everything regardless of that day. Otherwise it's just a bitter reminder of the bad from the rest of the year.
